Skill Assessment
The Educational Therapy Center requires that incoming students be assessed by our Director. The two-hour assessment documents baseline abilities in the following areas:
Alphabetic Knowledge- Handwriting
- Sight Words
- Phonological Processing
- Phonological Awareness
- Phonemic Awareness
- Fluency
- Spelling
- Reading Level
- Reading Comprehension

During a one hour conference with the director, this assessment information and the written report will be explained. Your questions about the results will be answered as well as discussing your concerns about your student’s problems with acquiring literacy skills. The report will be a valuable tool in your decision-making, but it does not obligate you to begin tutoring with the Educational Therapy Center. However, if you do begin tutoring within 30 days of the conference, the material fee is waived.
