Empowering Tutors to Empower Students

At Educational Therapy Center (ETC), we know that every child learns differently, and we embrace it.

If you’re ready to make a lasting difference in a student’s life, we invite you to join the ETC family.

Why Tutor at ETC?

Tutoring here is not “more of the same.” At ETC:

  • Tutors receive personalized training and mentoring.
  • Supportive team environment.
  • Access to a robust resource library & materials.
  • Flexible hours.

Deepen understanding of language-based learning differences: dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia – and how to help struggling readers unlock their potential.

Our tutors are:

  • Compassionate and patient.
  • Critical thinkers and problem-solvers.
  • Motivated to grow professionally.

Dedicated to making a positive impact.

What it takes

Becoming an ETC tutor requires heart and commitment.

  • A bachelor’s degree (any field).
  • A willingness to learn about dyslexia and teach in a new way.
  • A mindset for continuous learning and self-improvement.

Interest in a commitment of 1–2 years to provide consistency and stability for students.

What to Expect

All candidates will:

Interview and observe at our Parkville or Overland Park center.

Complete 40 hours of classroom training.

Work through a 10–20 hour practicum with an ETC master teacher.

Continue to sharpen skills with ongoing professional development.

What Training Teaches You

Through ETC’s training, you’ll learn how to:

Teach spelling rules, syllabication, non-phonetic words, and more.

Understand the unique ways each student learns — whether in language, math, or both.

Implement the Orton-Gillingham Approach (multisensory, structured, evidence-based).

Empower students with patience, encouragement, and kindness at every stage.

Why It Matters

ETC tutors don’t just teach — they change lives. Our students gain confidence, independence, and hope because their tutors believe in them and know how to help them succeed.

When you join ETC, you’re not just getting a job. You’re joining a mission: to help students in Kansas City, Parkville, Liberty, and Overland Park discover that they can learn, grow, and reach their full potential.
